Combo Chimbita. A Brooklyn foursome with roots in Colombia, Combo Chimbita are a foursome fronted by singer and guacharaca player Carolina Oliveros. Kermit Ruffins / New Sound Brass Band. New Orleans trumpeter Ruffins was an original member of Rebirth Brass Band before going on to become a highly entertaining Satchmo-inspired Crescent City institution. New Sound put a winning Philly spin on the Second Line tradition from the City That Care Forgot. Thursday at Ardmore Music Hall.
John Oates. Touring without his other half, the Nashville-based member of the Philly-born pop soul duo who now have their own annual Memorial Day weekend Hoagie Nation festival digs into American roots music with his Good Road Band. Thursday at World Cafe Live.
Creem Circus. Glamtastic 1970s stylized rock outfit named after two glossy music magazines and fronted by Chris DiPinto, of Fishtown custom guitar emporium DiPinto Guitar & Basses.
