Grammy-winning hip-hop artist Drake is giving back to a local school in a very big way.

In a clip aired on ABC News Wednesday, he announced to Strawberry Mansion High School that he would be building a recording studio.

“In the next few months I’m building a recording studio inside your school,” he declared to the students and teachers. “This about you. This about your principal. This about your future. I love you. I care about you. I want to see you succeed.”

What inspired the Toronto native to give back to this Philadelphia learning institution? Back in May, Drake was captivated by a special report on World News with Diane Sawyer that featured Strawberry Mansion. Her “Hidden America” piece had her spending months inside “one of the country’s most dangerous schools.”

“I caught this piece that Diane did, and by the end of it I was so heavily effected I started like questioning like major aspects of my life,” Drake told ABC.

A follow up to Diane's original May repoirt aired on Wednesday, in which she checked in with the school to see how the establishment had progressed since her last visit.
