Thanks to Virginia singer-rapper, D.R.A.M., a.k.a. Big Baby Dram, it seemed like all anyone wanted to do last year was cha cha.

When he released his 2014 project #1EpicEP, "Cha Cha" was a regional hit. Then Beyonce cosigned the feel-good party anthem, and the single began to gain traction, and attention from fellow artists. In fact, D.R.A.M. tweeted that Drake "jacked" his song on Drake's "Hotline Bling."

In 2015 he released the EP Gahdamn!. It showcases his vocal range, which moves from soulful to pop with the ease of someone who's studied gospel and funk.

This year, he's moving on to bigger and greener things. He recently released "Broccoli" featuring Lil Yachty, which has been climbing the Billboard charts.

I sat down with the crooner before his headlining show recently at the Foundry for a Free Thinkers interview with RECPhilly. His jovial personality is what you would expect from the creator of "Cha Cha." We talked about the Drake controversy, the "signals" he gets from women and how he has much more to offer musically than just one hit.
