Barnes Foundation: Interior

The simple, light-filled space outside the galleries features ipe-wood flooring recycled from the Coney Island boardwalk, glass-and-bronze doors with an African motif, wool hangings to dampen noise, a chandelier of Chinese glass, and myriad other refined details. The building also contains an auditorium, lounge area, library, shop, special-exhibition space, café, offices and a conservation lab.
