The Last House on the Left

The night she arrives at the remote Collingwood lakehouse, Mari and her friend are kidnapped by a prison escapee and his crew. Terrified and left for dead, Mari's only hope is to make it back to parents John and Emma. Unfortunately, her attackers unknowingly seek shelter at the one place she could be safe. And when her family learns the horrifying story, they will make three strangers curse the day they came to "The Last House on the Left."

In researching Wes Craven's "original" version of "Last House on the Left," we learn that it wasn't original at all. Craven was remaking (I kid you not) an award-winning Ingmar Bergman movie ("Virgin Spring") about a medieval town set upon by violent strangers. » Read more

At once an elegiac tragedy about innocence and experience and a vicious yarn about the kidnap, torture, rape, and murder of two girls, Dennis Iliadis' remake of Wes Craven's 1972 directing debut, The Last House on the Left, is the best in the latest crop of slasher remakes.
