Will Smith's next gig is on Netflix, and if you were watching the Oscars, you saw the first cut of it. Netflix paid $90 million for Smith's sci fi jaunt and cop thriller that also stars Joel Edgerton (Loving) and is directed by Smith's Suicide Squad helmer David Ayers.

The film, written by Chronicle's Max Landis, is set in a world where humans and supernatural creatures coexist. Smith plays a human cop who teams up with an Orc (Edgerton) to find a powerful wand.

The movie is set for a December release.
