VIDEO: Good grief, the first 'Peanuts' movie trailer is here

When news about a 3-D animated Peanuts movie first broke, fan reaction was unsurprisingly mixed, the strip itself being a classic and all. Luckily, though, producer Paul Feig let us know that "Snoopy will not be rapping, no one will be twerking," apparently in hopes to assuage those worries.

When news about a 3-D animated Peanuts movie first broke, fan reaction was unsurprisingly mixed, the strip itself being a classic and all. Luckily, though, producer Paul Feig let us know that “Snoopy will not be rapping, no one will be twerking,” apparently in hopes to assuage those worries. Judging from the first trailer, we’ve got no need to start worrying yet.

We’ve seen tons of holiday specials and the like from Charles Schulz’ most beloved series, but Peanuts serves as the first feature-length to get screen time since 1980’s Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown (and Don’t Come Back!!). Craig Schulz, one of Charles’ sons, called the new film “long overdue” in an interview with USA Today, adding that “the fans have been asking for a long time.”

Who was asking for a 3-D adaptation isn’t exactly clear, but, still, we’re getting one. Which, admittedly, might actually be a good thing, considering that director Steve Martino has said that that medium gives the movie “a bigger canvas” for more interesting extrapolations on classic Peanuts bits—like Snoopy’s apparent ability to fly. As Martino puts it, “we’re going to fly with Snoopy in his fantasy world.” Sold.

Peanuts is set to arrive November 2015. In the mean time, check out the trailer below:
