'Sharknado 2' heading to theaters for one night only

Aug 04 ( - “Sharknado 2: The Second One” will be the second one to hit theaters after a stunning TV debut.

The SyFy original movie will be presented by Fathom Events for one night only on Aug. 21 at 8 p.m. local time across the country.

In addition to watching Tara Reid and Ian Ziering battle another herd of swirling sharks — this time ripping through New York City — audiences will be treated to an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the making of the sequel to 2013 hit “Sharknado.”

The limited theatrical release for “Sharknado” was a success a year ago. Theaters not only quickly sold out of tickets, but added more screenings to meet the demand for the made-for-TV movie that premiered to nearly 1.4 million total viewers.

“Sharknado 2” pulled in 3.9 million total viewers when it premiered last week. A third installment has already been greenlit.
