‘Ride Along’s Tim Story is making a ‘Dennis Rodman in North Korea’ movie

Being as it sounded like it came from a movie in the first place, it was only a matter of time until someone took Dennis Rodman’s “basketball diplomacy” trip to North Korea to the big screen in some form. That time is now, and that someone is 20th Century Fox.

The studio recently nabbed the rights to Diplomats, a script inspired by Rodman’s headline-making trip. Ride Along’s Tim Story is on to direct, so this one is sure to be a comedy, which, you know, it was, anyway. Writer Jonathan Abrams will take scriptwriting duties.

Reportedly a “two-hander that takes its cues from the antics of 6-foot-7 former NBA player Rodman,” Diplomats will chronicle The Worm’s January 2014 trip to North Korea, during which he made nice with dictator Kim Jong Un. The “happy birthday” incident was particularly cringe-worthy, but let’s see how all this appears on film.

North Korea, after all, will be waiting, too.
