Rick Santorum has held a number of titles over the years: Republican presidential candidate, senator, “defender of the family,” and now, movie producer.

The former senator from Pennsylvania will have his debut as an executive producer tonight when “The Redemption of Henry Myers” premieres on the Hallmark Movie Channel at 9 p.m. Santorum recently took on the role as CEO of EchoLight Studios, a film production company specializing in “faith and family-friendly entertainment.”

These aren’t exactly blockbuster films. Echolight’s films, usually unrated, are often released straight to television or DVD.

Santorum credits Ronald Reagan’s storytelling skills as his inspiration and help with the creative process.

“There’s a message for everybody out there as to how we forgive,” Santorum said of the film.
