LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) - Elizabeth Fowler ("Devil's Knot"), Susan Duff ("Material Girls") and Dannielle Thomas ("The Client List") have obtained movie rights to Rene Steinke's just-published novel "Friendswood."
The producers are out to screenwriters to adapt.
"Friendswood," published by Riverhead Books, is set in a small Texas town and follows the interconnected lives of its inhabitants. When the town's legacy of tragedy -- a toxic leak that sickened and killed dozens a decade earlier -- begins to rear its head again, the community unravels.
Madonna obtained screen rights to Steinke's "Holy Skirts," set in the world of the early 20th Century avant-garde movement. Steinke's debut novel "The Fires" was an exploration of the mind a pyromaniac.
