Jul 15 (TheWrap.com) - “Midnight Rider” director Randall Miller and producer Jody Savin have surrendered to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office for charges stemming from the death of camera assistant Sarah Jones, a spokesperson for the department told TheWrap.

Both made bail and were released a short time later.

Jay Sedrish, an executive producer of the Gregg Allman biopic, is also facing the same involuntary manslaughter and criminal trespass charges that Georgia prosecutors announced earlier this month.

The indictment stemmed from an accident on set last February when Jones, 27, was struck and killed by a train. Other crew members were injured but survived.

The crash occurred when the production placed a hospital bed on a railroad trestle bridge while filming in Georgia. They expected only two trains to pass by during the filming, but a third freighter train came across the bridge at “60 miles an hour” and struck Jones. Debris from the hospital bed was responsible for injuring the others as they attempted to escape the oncoming train.

Involuntary manslaughter carries a potential sentence of ten years in prison under Georgia law, while criminal trespass is a misdemeanor with a potential sentence of twelve months.

The criminal charges followed a wrongful death lawsuit Jones’ family filed against the producers, as well as Allman, in May. Makeup artist Antonyia Vera filed a personal injury lawsuit last month.
