Persecuted

In this Christian thriller from writer/director Daniel Lusko, James Remar stars as John Luther, a nationally acclaimed evangelist who tangles with the U.S. government over congressional legislation that would impose "equality for all faiths" on the nation, thereby jeopardizing the existence of the entire American Christian community. For speaking out, Luther is framed by the bill's Senate sponsor in the rape and murder of a teenage girl. Luther manages to escape into a life on the run, pursued by ex-military operatives determined to silence him. That, of course, is impossible.

The movie - with a cast including Dean Stockwell, Fred Thompson, and Bruce Davison - has been lauded by Christian media. By the secular press, not so much.

Running time: 1 hr., 31 min.

Parent's guide: PG-13 (violence and thematic elements).
