Holiday hosting is right around the corner and I have the perfect solution for helping your guests keep track of their wine glasses. It only requires a few items and for less than $20 you can make a set of 8 chalkboard wine glasses for your next party. Creating these glasses doesn’t require any special skills and they don’t take long to create, but they do require overnight to dry.
8 wine glasses
Plastic container for paint
Piece of cardboard
1. Lay out the piece of cardboard to protect your work surface. Pour some chalkboard paint into a plastic container.
2. Gently dip the stem of the wine glass into the paint. When you remove the glass from the paint wipe the bottom of the glass along the edge of the plastic container or use a paintbrush to remove the excess paint from the bottom of the glass.
3. Set the glasses aside to dry. Now, this can be a little tricky. I found the best way to dry the glasses is to lay out a few pieces of parchment paper on top of the cardboard. Set the glass upright on the paper. When the paint starts to pool around the glass on the paper, pick it up, brush bottom of glass with paint brush to remove excess paint then set it back down in a new spot. You’ll need to do this 2-3 times per glass or until the paint no longer drips down the glass. Continue to dry for an hour and then turn upside down and dry overnight.
Please note: these glasses are not dishwasher safe nor should they be emerged in soapy water. To wash, submerge the globe in soapy water to wash. Use a damp cloth to wipe the stem and base of the glass.
