Walker Stalker Con welcomes 'Walking Dead' stars to Philly this weekend, Wizard World announces Comic Con dates

This weekend, Philly’s gorehounds will have something particularly gruesome to look forward to.

The zombie-themed Walker Stalker Con will take over the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks on Saturday and Sunday, with appearances by actors from The Walking Dead, Ash vs. Evil Dead, and Sons of Anarchy, plus undead cosplayers, panel sessions, and vendors.

The list of celebrity attendees includes Walking Dead stars Norman Reedus, Chandler Riggs, Lennie James, Tom Payne, Josh McDermitt, and others. Ash vs. Evil Dead’s Ted Raimi, Sons of Anarchy star Ron Perlman, and zombie makeup master Tom Savini will also be on hand, along with nonzombie film stars Sean Patrick Flanery and David Della Rocco of Boondock Saints.

Those who wish to commemorate the event permanently can see Epic Ink star and tattoo artist Chris 51, who will be at the convention offering ink. Passes to the event start at $45, and are available online.

The Walking Dead is scheduled to begin its eighth season — with  its 100th episode — Oct. 22 on AMC. The show recently made news, saying  it would allow two utterances of the f-word on the show per season. Thank god; we were worried the show might be getting too family friendly.

Walker Stalker Con, however, isn’t the only  geeky convention coming to Philly. Wizard World has announced its Comic Con schedule, with the Philadelphia run set to take place May 17-20. Last year’s events featured  KISS’s Gene Simmons, Lex Luthor portrayor Jesse Eisenberg, and Chuck Norris.
