ReedPOP, organizers of large-scale comic book conventions like New York Comic Con, will repotedly bring a new, geek-centric event to Philadelphia next year.

The Keystone Comic Con will hit the Convention Center Sept. 14-16, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The convention will be yet another on ReedPOP's list, which includes C2E2 in Chicago and Seattle's Emerald City Comicon in addition to the New York event.

"In conversations with publishers, retailers, and artists, Philly kept coming up as a city that they see a ton of popularity in," ReedPOP event director Mike Armstrong told Newsarama.com in a recent interview. "It's been a perfect storm of opportunity, interest, and availability."

For its Keystone event, ReedPOP says it plans to hire three full-time staff members. The team, the Hollywood Reporter writes, will work to develop interest in the event among fans and businesses.

This will be the second major comic con at the Convention Center. Wizard World, which has held court there for the last few years, announced its 2018 dates — May 17-20 — last week. Does Philadelphia have the culture to sustain two big comic cons? Only time will tell.

The Keystone Comic Con will not be the company's first Philly event. ReedPOP is also behind the forthcoming PAX Unplugged, a tabletop gaming-focused convention coming to Philly Nov. 17-19. The company will hold its New York Comic Con starting Thursday at the Javits Center, where it will run through Sunday, with guests ranging from X-Files stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny to The Walking Dead's Andrew Lincoln to the one and only William Shatner.
