Rumored Romney VP pick Rubio cancels Philly book event Wednesday

POSTED: Wednesday, June 20, 2012, 1:08 PM

Talk Radio 1210 AM host Dom Giordano's book event and conversation tonight with U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) scheduled for Wednesday night at the National Constitution Center has been postpoed indefinitely, the radio station announced this afternoon.

"Sen. Rubio was called back to Washington to take part in unexpected votes in the Senate," says 1210 on its website before apologizing to ticketholders of the sold-out event which cost $25 and included a copy of the rumored potential Mitt Romney VP candidate's new book "An American Son."

Rubio canceled a scheduled appearance Tuesday night on Comedy Central's "Daily Show with Jon Stewart." On Tuesday  ABC News and the Washington Post reported that Rubio was not being vetted by the Romney campaign and later in the day Romney said that Rubio was in fact being vetted by his team.

Either way, Rubio who gives lots of interviews, certainly seems to be avoiding public appearances the past few days.

Rubio's press secretary Alex Conant got back to us and said the Constitution Center event was canceled due to Senate voting.

"The VP speculation had nothing to do with it," Conant wrote.

"We were able to reschedule a couple of the interviews for studios in DC (he did two FOX News interviews last night and was on CBS this morning). We are rescheduling the Daily Show for next week, since they could only take us if we were in studio," Conant wrote Wednesday afternoon.

Republicans really are the stupid party. Why this guy would step foot in a liberal dump like Philthydelphia is beyond me. Jon Stewart? Who's next Bill Maher?

Conservatives go on Jon Stewart. Liberals go on Stephen Colbert. Get with the program (oh, and in case you live under a rock, there are plenty of conservatives in Philly. who do you think bought the tickets that had to be refunded, anyway?)

The truth is Marco was told what a sleeze conservative Giordano is and thought it best not to be on the same bill with him.

Uh oh. I wouldn't get hands or feet near His Largeness Christie's mouth anytime soon. He's going to go one one serious food bender after he realizes all his pandering, wishy-washiness, lip service and fealty-giving to the Mittster did nothing except embarrass himself and prove that, like all power-hungry barons, his word means nothing.

aud, are you insinuating that Stephen Colbert is is conservative? Um, hate to break it to you, but he's a full-on parody of right wing media stars (O'Reilly). That's what got the conservatives such flack for picking him to host the WHCD in 2006 where he skewered the co-called liberal media and the President so deftly!

Rubio blatantly lied about his Cuban past. He'll get skewered in a general election campaign.

I'm sure Rendell and Obama's professional protesters were upset too.

Nationwide election is different. FL Cubans vote GOP, not all Latinos. Rubio is a fraud.

It's hilarious that many of you nay-sayers all of sudden forgot what brought us to this point... and if you think you'll benefit from a Rommey administration, all I can say if good luck with that... I seriously doubt that any of you breathe the same air as his fat cat donors that are trying to buy the election with their million dollar contributions. Also, shame on the SCOTUS for putting our democracy on sale to the highest bidder. We deserve better than that!

    Get real Philadelphia....OBAMA 2012 !!!
