Madonna says the reality of a Trump presidency is like a bad breakup

If you're waiting for Madonna to stop talking about politics, don't hold your breath. It's not going to happen.

In a new interview with Harper's Bazaar, the singer sits down with feminist author Roxane Gay to discuss her art, voice and opinions. None of which the 58-year-old plans to silence anytime soon.

"I have to get way more vocal." the veteran entertainer said. Madonna, who stumped hard for former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, is of the opinion that people in her industry do not speak out nearly enough because they worry about alienating fans and Instagram followers. Not so for the "Like a Prayer" singer. And speaking of praying ...

Madonna said she spent election night reading the Zohar, the literary foundation of Kabbalah, while her agent/BFF read from the Koran. "We were doing everything: lighting candles, meditating, praying, offering our lives to God forever, if only."

Madonna compared the next morning's news, that Trump would be president of the United States, to a nightmarish breakup.

"I wake up every morning and it's like when you break up with somebody who has really broken your heart. You wake up and for a second you're just you, and then you go, 'Oh, the person I love more than anything has just broken my heart, and I'm devastated and I'm broken and I have nothing. I'm lost,' " she said. "It's like being dumped by a lover and also being stuck in a nightmare."
