Kardashian rakes in nearly $18 million on wedding

Saving for your daughter’s wedding? Then you’re going about it all wrong.

The ceremony shouldn’t be a major expense. It should be an incredible profit tool. Take Kim Kardashian. According to the New York Post, she stands to make $17.9 million for her wedding this weekend to NBA player Kris Humphries (see a highlight clip below). Warning: by watching this video, you now owe Kim $25,000.

How did she roll up an astounding multimillion take like that? By leaving no buck unturned.

She gets $15 million for a two-part wedding special on E! in October. (Presumably she’ll have to share some of that with Ryan Seacrest, who in his guise as producer, unleashed the Kardashians on the world.) People magazine (over)paid $2.5 million for exclusive photos of the ceremony in Montecito, California. The magazine also forked over $300,000 to Kim for the honor of being the first to announce her engagement.

Spreading the wealth around, OK! Magazine paid $100,000 for exlcusive access to the bridal shower. Oh, joy! And the Las Vegas club Tao actually paid Kardashian $50,000 to hold her bachelorette party on the premises.

All this for someone who’s only talent is knowing exactly where all camera lenses are at all times. (Confession: I’ve never seen her sex tape so I can’t speak to her abilities in that arena.)

But that ain't all. Most of the big ticket items at the wedding were comped, including the three Vera Wang gowns KiKa wore that day ($60,000), a river of Perrier Jouet champagne ($400,000), an epic cake ($15,000 to $20,000) as well as the elaborate weeding invitations.

The Post also reports that the $2 million engagement rock and the $1 million wedding bands were purchased at a steep discount.

After the reception, as the newlyweds ran to their (comped) limousine, they were showered with pearls. It was left to Kris Kardashian to sweep up. Kim, of course, already had.
