Selena Gomez taking a break for health ... or something else?

Also in Tattle: Bill Nye, Dubai, Justin Guarini, Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez

IF YOU believe

Selena Gomez

, the 24-yearold singer/actress who's been on her Revival World Tour, is taking some time off to recharge, rejuvenate and de-stress to revive

herself

.

"As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways," Selena stated exclusively to People magazine. "I've discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges.

"I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off. Thank you to all my fans for your support. You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best. I know I am not alone by sharing this, I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues," she added.

An unnamed People source said Selena's time off is "absolutely not related to alcohol or substance abuse."

But if you believe RadarOnline.com, a lying Selena put her tour on hold this week after her family intervened to get her to curtail her escalating drug use.

Who wouldn't need some time off living in that type of fish bowl?

Tattle interviewed Selena a number of years ago when she was in Philadelphia to promote a movie. She was pleasant, cordial but even then looked totally worn out by travel and time demands.

It's a life so many young people dream of having. But a body can only take so much. All that "Come and Get It" money means nothing if you're wiped out earning it and can't enjoy it.

Someone to save us

Bill Nye

"The Science Guy" is coming to Netflix to bring some sense to this ever-crazier world we live in.

Bill Nye Saves the World will debut next spring.

Each episode will look at a different scientific topic and its impact on various aspects of society and argue anti-science views espoused by TV's talking lunkheads.

It sounds like a smart melding of John Oliver's Last Week Tonight and Penn & Teller's Bulls---! and the show's showrunner will be Penn alum Michael Naidus (The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson).

TATTBITS

* As summer temperatures reached over 100 degrees in the desert, the world's largest indoor theme park, featuring popular Marvel and Cartoon Network-branded rides, opened its doors to the public on Wednesday in the tourist trap of the Middle East-Dubai.

The park cost more than $1 billion to build and it's probably safe to say the immigrant workers were not treated like royals during the construction.

Last year, some 14 million people visited Dubai, according to the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing. The highest share of visitors came from neighboring Gulf countries, with Saudi Arabia topping the list.

Sure, because what happens in Dubai stays in Dubai and what happens in Saudi Arabia can get you beheaded.

* After Bucks County's Justin Guarini finishes his run in Cake Off at the Bucks County Playhouse on Sept. 10, he'll be off to New York to start rehearsals for In Transit-a new musical oddly named after philly.com's transportation blog.

The show will begin previews on Nov. 10 at Circle in the Square Theatre. The blog is always available.

* E! News reports that Beyonce will throw a Soul Train-themed party Monday in New York for her 35th birthday.

We better dig out our old bellbottoms.

* In Touch Weekly says Casper Smart won't leave Jennifer Lopez's L.A. mansion even though she broke up with him.

The mag says that Jennifer is concerned Casper only wants to get back with her for her money.

Possible. But Jennifer Lopez is still . . . Jennifer Lopez.
