Sideshow: Controversy hits Chris Tucker's Netflix stand-up special

Trouble stalks Chris Tucker's touted new comedy special, which Netflix plans to post Friday. Comic Terry Hodges is suing Tucker and Netflix, claiming they never paid him for all the work he's done since 2008 (that's a lot of preparation!) to help write and produce the stand-up show. Nickelback cancels tour

Canadian rockers Nickelback have scrapped the remainder of their 2015 tour due to illness. Front man Chad Kroeger is due to undergo surgery to remove a cyst on his voice box. The band was scheduled to hit Hersheypark Stadium in Hershey on Aug. 8 and Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden on Aug. 22. Refunds available at point of purchase.

Gossip petits fours

The Miss USA pageant, scuttled by NBC in the wake of co-owner Donald Trump's remarks about Mexican immigrants, has landed a new TV home and new hosts. It'll be shown Sunday by Reelz and will feature TV personality Todd Newton and former Miss Wisconsin USA Alex Wehrley. . . . Sandwicher Subway suspended its relationship with famous pitchman Jared Fogle after he became embroiled in a child-pornography investigation that saw the arrest of a man who works for Fogle's child-obesity foundation. CBS reports Fogle, whose house was searched Tuesday, is a suspect. . . . Alas, it seems Mads Mikkelsen's horror procedural Hannibal may be dead for good. Variety says neither Netflix nor Amazon intends to pick up the show. NBC recently canceled the critically acclaimed show after three seasons. . . . Fox's The Simpsons survived the biggest threat to its excellent-ness: Cast member Harry Shearer, who voices Mr. Burns and many more characters, has rejoined the show after leaving over a contract dispute.

Paula Deen's latest trouble

Embattled former Food Network star Paula Deen faced new attacks Tuesday when a photo appeared on her social-media accounts showing her son Bobby in brownface makeup. The pic has Deen and Bobby dressed as Lucy and Ricky Ricardo from I Love Lucy. Deen, who was fired by the Food Network two years ago for using a racial slur, immediately issued an apology for the pic, which is from 2011.
