Girls' star Lena Dunham, familiar with attacks from conservative wags, is inviting yet more controversy: She has hired one of the first daughters as an unpaid intern. The New York Post says incoming high school senior Malia Obama, 17, will spend the rest of the summer working for the actor, writer, and producer.

HBO has yet to comment on the report. Obama and Dunham recently were spotted together on the Brooklyn set of Girls.

Obama seems serious about exploring the biz: Last summer, she worked on Halle Berry's TV drama Extant.

Independence Day wedding I

One of Hollywood's hottest couples took advantage of the holiday weekend to mount a secret wedding. While their reps have yet to confirm, People mag says Ashton Kutcher, 37, and Mila Kunis, 31, who played two lovely kids in love on That '70s Show, have wed after three years.

While the couple were legally married some weeks ago, they held an exclusive reception at the ultra-secluded Secret Garden at Parrish Ranch in Oak Glen, Calif., which is reportedly dotted with apple orchards and other bits of cute nature.

"My first real kiss ever was with him on the show," Kunis says in W mag's August issue, adding: "We all get movie-star crushes. I'm marrying mine." How sweet!

Fourth of July nuptials II

Billy Joel, 66, spiced up his Fourth of July weekend with a surprise wedding Saturday to his equestrian paramour Alexis Roderick, who at 33 is half his age. Us Weekly says the do was so far on the down-low, not even the couple's respective families knew about it until they got invites at the last minute. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo officiated

at the ceremony.

Avedon pics 'n' movies

The National Museum of American Jewish History on Independence Mall is featuring a weekly film series at 7 p.m. Wednesdays in July, hosted by former Inquirer movie critic Carrie Rickey. It's held in conjunction with the exhibit "Richard Avedon: Family Affairs."
