IF YOU'RE a public-radio fan and the idea of money talk strikes your fancy, catch David Brancaccio, radio and TV journalist and host of the National Public Radio program "Marketplace" at WHYY's studios (150 N. 6th St.) tomorrow night.

Brancaccio plans to take us behind the scenes of the production of his morning radio show and provide insider information on a topic of economics he promises will affect everyone in 2015.

I'm told the WHYY visit will be the Peabody, Emmy and Walter Cronkite award winner's only public appearance in Philadelphia. The event is open to the public ($30 for WHYY members and $50 for non-members) and starts at 7:30 p.m.

Local TV gal goes national

A redheaded reporter from Blue Bell has been picked for a top job covering national and international news for a major TV news network.

ABC News has promoted Karen Travers, who joined ABC NewsOne in 2000 as an intern. ABC NewsOne is the network's affiliate news service, which feeds regional, national and international news material to ABC affiliates around the country, including 6ABC here.

Travers worked her way up to covering politics in Washington, D.C., for the news service and has traveled across the country and to foreign nations covering the Bush and Obama administrations.

"I'm so excited to take on this new, expanded role at ABC News," Travers told me.

"As we head into an exciting election, I'm looking forward to hitting the campaign trail and continuing to cover major national and international stories. And I will still be reporting for WPVI/Channel 6 Action News, which makes my family in Blue Bell very happy."

While she currently lives in Washington, D.C., with her family, Travers told me her allegiance lies with all Philly sports teams.

New faces at NBC10

Traffic chick Jessica Boyington, the former beauty queen from Winslow Township, N.J., has left CBS3 for NBC10, sources say.

The transition went largely under the radar, but executives at NBC10 confirmed the switch for me yesterday. Boyington, a former Miss New Jersey and 2009 Daily News Sexy Single, will stick with the traffic beat at NBC10.

The station also has hired a new reporter for its Telemundo affiliate. Carolina Cardona started last week.

The 'Women of Eyewitness News'

All the ladies from CBS3's "Eyewitness News" will be donning their Sunday workout best when they host the 25th annual celebration of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Mother's Day.

Because CBS3 was a founding sponsor of the race, the station recruited Pat Ciarrocchi, Carol Erickson, Jessica Dean, Stephanie Stahl, Natasha Brown, Lesley Van Arsdall, Kate Bilo, Erika von Tiehl, Kathy Orr, Katie Fehlinger and Nicole Brewer to host live coverage of the event from 6 to 9 a.m. this Sunday.
