'Catching Fire' torches turkey
Did the gang clear out post-turkey, as they did at our place, to go see The Hunger Games: Catching Fire? So did the whole world! The Jennifer Lawrence vehicle set an all-time record for the gratitudinous holiday, with a $14.9 million take, beating the $13.1 mils of 1999's Toy Story 2. Fire may earn $100 mils total through Sunday! Whaaaat? The only flick anywhere near was Frozen, with $11.1 mils.
Snoopy obliterates Gaga!
Lady Gaga's Turkey Day special on ABC at 9:30 p.m. was, um, ignored. Even singing with Kermit the Frog did not help. Lady Gaga & The Muppets Holiday Spectacular got 3.6 million viewers among those 18-49, who rule the world, yo. At 8 p.m., ABC had run its 1973 warhorse A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, which drew 5.3 mils in the same demo. Maybe by 9:30 the tryptophan had set in, and all the 18-49s were snoring open-mouthed on the couch. Entertainment Weekly wrote, meanly, that Her Gagaship and Kermit had "zero chemistry."
Gwyn smacks her haters
Gwyneth Paltrow is both fêted and hated - celebrated as the world's most beauteous being and despised as a tediously intelligent, slender, self-satisfied moviestar who's got A Perfect Life so let's hate her. G-Pal tells Brit mag Red, sensibly, that "the older I get, I realize it doesn't matter what people who don't know you think." But then - this won't help - she asks that cosmic question, "[W]ho gives [an indelicate Germanic expletive]?" Her mom, actor Blythe Danner, tells celeb blogger Naughty But Nice Rob her Gwyn is "extraordinarily accomplished in every area, and people don't like that." That's what gets you hated in high school!
