PHILLY-BORN AND -BRED actor/director Mark Webber is having a baby. Well, most of the work falls to new fiancee Teresa Palmer, the Australian beauty who recently starred in zombie rom-com "Warm Bodies."

Webber, the son of local activist and former Green Party vice-presidential candidate Cheri Honkala, has a son, Isaac Love, from a previous marriage.

"She seemed like a very smart, intelligent young woman who knows that Mark is connected to many mothers in the fight for economic justice. Any woman who is able to tolerate that is worth it," Honkala told me. "They both can be a powerhouse team to use their celebrity status to call attention to poverty in America."

Honkala's biggest concern about the wedding: "I have no idea what kind of dress I'm going to wear. They're going to have it in a private island. I live in Kensington, this is so out of my league. His little brother Guillermo is going to be the best man."

Zooey's local roots

Actress Zooey Deschanel traveled around the area to investigate her Lancaster County Quaker relatives' involvement in the abolitionist movement in TLC's "Who Do You Think You Are?" airing tonight at 9.

With the help of Ancestry.com, Deschanel discovered that her great mom-mom Sarah Pownall was involved in the underground railroad. While learning about her fam, Deschanel visited the Free Library of Philadelphia and Friends Historical Library in Swarthmore, along with the Lancaster Historical Society in Lancaster and Pownall's land in Christiana, Lancaster County.

Vile-ation

U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron has a jones for one of Philly's finest musical exports, Kurt Vile. Cameron told the radio station XFM that Vile, who is signed to independent behemoth Matador Records, has been on his rotation recently, name-checking Mumford & Sons along with Swedish folk duo First Aid Kit. Cameron's guilty pleasure? Bruce Springsteen. He must have been misquoted, though. The Boss is only a pleasure, sans guilt.

Slumber party

The Awesome Fest, the summerlong movie festival, keeps rolling, and I've got the exclusive on a night full of scary goodness. On Friday, Sept. 13, the Awesome Fest will take over Adventureland Day Camp (6401 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem) for an all-night movie marathon, paired with adults-only camp fun, like campfires, food trucks and a zip line. Movies on tap include "Friday the 13th" (natch), a 30th-anniversary screening of "Sleepaway Camp," the Philadelphia premieres of "Jugface" and "The Battery" (including talent), and the classic "Just Before Dawn." I hear two more movies will be added to the list. The whole event, curated by FearNet's Scott Weinberg, is $20, and is BYOB and BYOT(ent). Visit theawesomefest.com for more details.

Sisters closes

Center City's sole female-focused LGBT bar, Sisters Nightclub (1320 Chancellor St.), is closing its doors after 17 years. Timaree Schmit, the club's chief communications officer and member of house dance team Sisters Sirens, says that she heard about the spot's plans to close yesterday and that it was all very sudden. The bar has events scheduled through the end of the month, including Schmit's burlesque show to raise money for the upcoming Slutwalk and a fundraiser for an animal shelter.

Schmit said that even though the club still had popular nights and events, the overall numbers at the club had not been as strong of late. Schmit also confirmed that the Sisters Sirens are no more.

Video stars

Last week, five Temple students made a video for acclaimed punk guitarist Nigel Bennett, who did time in both the Members and the Vibrators. The students - junior Joseph Bojko, junior Courtney Coombs, senior Katie Semple, junior Sydney Friedmann and senior Chikira Bennett - worked with Bennett on "Scarborough Fair," from his solo debut, "Truth or Consequences." Bennett and the students collaborated on the story, angle and visual flair for the vid.
