COULD THE CBS3 morning team survive the zombie apocalypse? Who would make the most dangerous brain-eater? Erika von Tiehl, Ukee Washington or Katie Fehlinger? There's a reason to speculate on such matters of local news: Von Tiehl, Washington and Fehlinger make cameos in "World War Z," the new Brad Pitt-starring zombie-horror movie. Catch them at a theater near you tomorrow.

The movie begins in Philadelphia, but was - unfortunately for us celeb-hungry Philadelphians - shot in Glasgow, Scotland.

Von Tiehl, Washington and Fehlinger can be seen reporting on the zombie apocalypse from a TV in Pitt's home. But the scene isn't scripted. "World War Z" folks asked the peeps over at 3 for an archived clip (presumably of some nasty Philly weather) and used that instead.

Loyal Daily News readers already know that Pitt surprised unsuspecting fans at an early screening of the film at Regal Cinemas King of Prussia a couple of weeks ago. Pitt, who hung out in Philly while filming "Twelve Monkeys" in 1995, praised the cheesesteak as the "perfect sandwich."

* In other CBS3 news, weatherwoman and hard-core bookworm Kate Bilo was named the Free Library of Philadelphia's Summer Reading Champion.

Herb Clarke honored

Late WCAU weatherman Herb Clarke was honored by the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia yesterday at the Bala Golf Club. Former reporter Terry Ruggles emceed the shindig, which included Clarke's widow, Barbara; Glenn "Hurricane" Schwartz; "Big Al" Meltzer; and Bill Baldini.

Clarke began his career at WCAU in 1958 and retired in 1997. But that didn't slow him down. Clarke spent the next six years giving gardening tips on KYW Newsradio. He died last year at age 84 from complications from Alzheimer's.

OUT AND ABOUT

Larry David of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" dined at Center City's Vernick on Tuesday night with a couple of buddies. Spies say he got the roasted chicken, the branzino (which I hear is to die for) and items off the raw menu.

Danny DeVito dined at Davio's with his "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" producer, Tom Lofaro. He got the angel-hair pasta. DeVito and Lofaro are in town shooting "It's Always Sunny" exteriors, including a stop at Sister Cities Park.

* Eagles owner Jeff Lurie caught the Rolling Stones show Tuesday night. That was the same show at which Comcast Spectacor president Peter Luukko presented Liberty Bells on behalf of the Wells Fargo Center and the city of Philadelphia to the Stones, who thanked "Mayor Nutt-ah" and got a good giggle at his name. "You know what a nutt-ah is at home?" Mick asked. Oh, you wicked Stones, you! Tickets are still available for tomorrow's show at ComcastTIX.com.

Billy Idol stopped by Imax Theatre at the Tropicana to catch the 6 p.m. showing of "Star Trek Into Darkness" on June 7.

* Avenue Kitchen has seen lots of famous faces recently. I hear that former Sixer Elton Brand, Fox 29's Jennaphr Frederick and NBC10's Doug Shimell all dined at the newish Villanova spot.

Philly-'roo

Didja miss me while I was gone fishin' this past week? I was at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tenn. But quite a few Philly faces were there reppin' our town, including: North Wales' own John Oates, who shouted out Philly before launching into "Love Train" during his Super Jam, which included R. Kelly and Billy Idol; DJ Jazzy Jeff, who spun a set; and Bob Saget, who played the comedy tent. But my fave Philly-fied moment? When Portland's Portugal. The Man brought out "Weird Al" Yankovic for a cover of "Dayman" from "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia."
