National hero: Concertgoer tackles Justin Bieber

JUSTIN BIEBER HIT the stage two hours late in Dubai Sunday night, and near the end of his set a fan hit him.

According to thenational.ae, Bieber was playing "Believe" on the piano when a young man in a white shirt and jeans jumped onstage and tackled him from behind.

Security quickly pounced on the tackler as Bieber ran to the side of the stage. The attacker, meanwhile, pushed the piano off its hinges and the unplayable instrument was taken offstage shortly after he was.

Bieber, rattled trooper that he is, finished the song with his band.

He also returned for an encore.

According to the Boston Herald, the One Fund benefit concert for Boston is turning out to be BIG.

With a strong sense of Massachusetts music, "Boston Strong: An Evening of Support and Celebration" will feature Aerosmith, Boston, New Kids on the Block, J. Geils Band, a reunited Extreme, Godsmack and James Taylor (separately - Taylor will not be fronting Godsmack) on May 30 at the TD Garden. Also pitching in are non-Bostonians Jason Aldean, Jimmy Buffett and Carole King.

"Everyone involved has responded from the heart in a spontaneous and simultaneous desire to be there, and to do what we can for the city we love," Taylor said.

"Having been born and raised in Boston, it is a dream-come-true, never-before/never-again lineup for me and the people of Boston," Extreme drummer Paul Geary said.

Ensuring that all the money raised goes to victims of the marathon bombing, TD Garden is being donated for the night.

* Katy Perry has spoken previously about her affection for Queen as a teen growing up and transitioning from Christian music to pop/rock, and she's acknowledging the influence with her third fragrance.

According to a Katy tweet, the scent following Purr and Meow will be Killer Queen.

* Brooklyn's Palmetto Playground, where the late Beastie Boy Adam Yauch learned to ride a bike as a child has been renamed Adam Yauch Park.

Yauch's parents and fellow Beastie Boy Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz attended the renaming ceremony.

The rapper known as "MCA" died last May at the age of 47 after a nearly three-year battle with cancer. The gravel-voiced Yauch helped make the Beastie Boys one of the seminal groups in hip-hop.

Yauch Park includes basketball courts, a community garden, a greenhouse, a small fitness area, an open play space, drinking fountains, and a dog run.

* Charlie Sheen not only has an unconventional life, he has unconventional relationships with his ex-wives.

His spokesman Larry Solters said Charlie supports a decision to remove his twin sons from the care of ex-wife Brooke Mueller and have them live temporarily with ex-wife Denise Richards, with whom Sheen had two daughters.

RadarOnline.com reported Friday that the 4-year-old twins were removed from Mueller's custody by the Department of Children and Family Services.

Solters said Charlie knows that Denise will provide his sons "a safe and stable, loving environment."

We guess it wasn't an option for Charlie to take the boys.

* Hong Kong film director Wong Kar-wai has been given France's highest cultural honor.

Wong was named a Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters by French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius on Sunday.

The honor sort of makes him the Jerry Lewis of Hong Kong.

* Speaking of France, Mazan Mayor Aime Navello said Keira Knightley and rocker James Righton have wed in a small ceremony in southern France.

Navello said Sunday that the couple followed French tradition when he married them at the Mazan town hall Saturday. Navello read the service in French and the couple responded in French and English. He said about 10 people were present.

Righton is keyboard player for the rock group Klaxons. He and Knightley got engaged a year ago.

* E! Online says hackers compromised its Twitter and text messaging accounts, sending out erroneous news alerts about Justin Bieber and Angelina Jolie.

The Syrian Electronic Army took responsibility for the hack.

You would think that any army associated with Syria would have bigger things to worry about.

* Oscar voters will no longer be required to see certain nominated films in a theater to cast their ballots.

With some of the films that have been nominated over the past few years, it's a wonder they've seen them at all.

* The American Gerbil Society's annual pageant brought dozens of rodents to Bedford, Mass., this weekend for a chance to win "top gerbil."

"A male gerbil should be a good, strong, hefty-looking gerbil," said Libby Hanna, president of the American Gerbil Society. "If you are going to think of it in human terms, you might think of a football player - somebody who's big, thick neck, nice, strong-looking male gerbil."

An ideal female gerbil will have a more streamlined appearance that even humans covet, she said.
