Reese Witherspoon's husband legally bombed

She loses cool after he has trouble when asked to walk the line - both arrested. And much more bad driving in Tattle.

Police in Georgia say that Reese Witherspoon has been arrested on a disorderly conduct charge after a traffic stop involving her husband in Atlanta. A Georgia State Police incident report says that Witherspoon was arrested early Friday, April 19, 2013, and charged with disorderly conduct.

HERE'S A SENTENCE we never expected to write in Tattle:

"Reese Witherspoon was arrested . . . "

But it's true. Variety reported exclusively that Reese and her husband, agent James Toth, were hauled into the hoosegow early Friday morning in Atlanta.

Toth, who was driving, was reportedly drunk - an officer watched him weave across Peachtree Street - and Reese was reportedly mighty irritable.

Toth now faces a DUI charge, while his talented missus faces a disorderly conduct charge, according to a police report obtained by Variety. Reese, who reportedly refused to stay inside the car, was handcuffed after mouthing off to the arresting officer. (She's in Atlanta shooting the indie drama "The Good Lie," about the relationship between a brash American and a Sudanese Lost Boy.)

Toth was pulled over early Friday morning driving a silver 2013 Ford Focus (we're presuming it was a rental). He appeared disheveled and smelled of alcohol, according to the police report, so he was asked to take a sobriety test in a Walgreen's parking lot.

"Mrs. Witherspoon began to hang out the window and say that she did not believe that I was a real police officer," the officer wrote in the police report. "I told Mrs. Witherspoon to sit on her butt and be quiet."

After her husband was placed under arrest, Variety says, Reese got out of their car, was told to get back in the car, but, per the report, "stated that she was a 'U.S. citizen' and that she was allowed to 'stand on American ground.' "

After playing the "Do you know my name?" game popular with some celebrities, Reese allegedly said, "You're about to find out who I am."

Also in the report: "Mrs. Witherspoon also stated, 'You are going to be on national news.' I advised Mrs. Witherspoon that was fine."

Toth told the policeman that he'd had only one drink earlier in the day, which makes him a major lightweight. He blew a .139, and in Georgia your blood-alcohol content can't be over .08 when you're behind the wheel.

So it's not like he just missed it. If he really had one drink, it was a half-gallon.

The couple were released not long after the arrest.

* In other DUI news, police in Southern California say that "Sunday Night Football" announcer Al Michaels was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.

Santa Monica police Sgt. Thomas McLaughlin says Michaels was taken into custody Friday night.

* Fortunately, no one was hurt in either of the above cases, but (also on Friday night) in Nashville, bassist Robert Todd Harrell of 3 Doors Down was charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication after an interstate crash claimed the life of another motorist.

Police said Harrell remained jailed early Sunday in connection with the fatal accident on Interstate 40. The man killed in the accident was not wearing a seatbelt as he was ejected from his pickup after it was clipped by Harrell's vehicle and overturned at the bottom of an embankment.

Authorities said Harrell's car hit a retaining wall and stopped about a quarter-mile away.

Police said Harrell showed signs of impairment in the field, and their statement said "he acknowledged consuming hard cider and taking prescription Lortab and Zanax."

The police statement said Harrell also was charged with bringing controlled substances into jail. When he was searched, authorities said, sheriff's deputies discovered a plastic bag concealed in his sock that contained eight Xanax, 24 Oxycodone and four Oxymorphone.

As of Sunday, he remained in custody in lieu of $100,000 bond. He faces a court appearance Thursday morning.

"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Paul Howard Shoulders Jr. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this difficult time," said a statement released on the 3 Doors Down website.

The film features newspaper headlines, television-news footage and other information widely known about a government gasoline subsidy that saw billions of dollars stolen by greedy companies and the nation's elite.

Although the film has been online for months, authorities claim it could spark violence and potentially threaten national security.

Or at least threaten the security of greedy companies and the nation's elite.

Jude Law has written to the World Trade Organization to urge it to uphold a European Union ban on seal fur.

The British actor was writing on behalf of PETA, which released the letter on Saturday.

The EU banned commercial trade in all seal products in its member states in 2010 amid concerns about the animal-welfare aspects of hunting seals.

The ban is being challenged by the Canadian government, and the WTO is holding a hearing later this month to settle the dispute.
