Jay-Z, Nutter to announce Labor Day weekend concert festival

JAY-Z WILL join Mayor Nutter atop the Art Museum steps at 10:30 Monday morning to announce a multiday concert festival on Labor Day weekend called Made in America.

The New York Times reported Sunday night that the Budweiser Made in America festival will feature 28 bands over two nights, Sept. 1 and 2, in Fairmount Park. The location of Monday morning's announcement could indicate the Parkway.

A portion of proceeds are to benefit the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. Tickets go on sale May 23 through Live Nation and Ticketmaster. Tune into Philly.com for more information Monday, or follow our Twitter feed @PhillyGossip.

We reported on PhillyGossip.com Friday that the pair were slated to make some type of announcement and updated the post Saturday with the Labor Day festival info.

"Made in America," by the way, is a track from "Watch the Throne," the album Jay-Z and Kanye West released together last year.

Out and about

Actress Julia Stiles and singer Vanessa Carlton dined Saturday night at Verdad (818 W. Lancaster) in Bryn Mawr. Carlton was in town to celebrate her brother's graduation from Haverford College. The group ordered assorted ceviche and spicy rubbed tuna and had a few cocktails at the restaurant and tequila bar.

Ellen Burstyn worked out Friday at the Sporting Club at the Bellevue. The "Exorcist" and "Requiem for a Dream" star is in town shooting "Political Animals," an upcoming USA miniseries starring Sigourney Weaver.

"Real Housewives of New Jersey" star Teresa Giudice called out to her mother-in-law, Filomena Giudice, with a question Friday night at Parx Casino where she gave a cooking demonstration, but she was off playing slots.

Giudice was also accompanied to her appearance by her mother, Antonia Gorga. It was a Mother's Day-themed event for Teresa's new cookbook Fabulicious, which she signed for many fans who attended.

Giudice, who also appeared this season on "Celebrity Apprentice," predicted Clay Aiken would win.

Flyers winger James van Riemsdyk and family caught Sunday's Union/Red Bulls match from a PPL Park suite. Eagle-turned-broadcaster Hugh Douglas served as an honorary captain for the Union, which lost, 3-2.

Phillies support Utleys event

The fifth annual Utley All-Star Animals Casino Night raised $400,000 for the Pennsylvania SPCA's Etana Fund. A good chunk of the Phillies' roster showed up to the event Thursday at the Electric Factory.

The still-rehabbing Chase Utley and wife Jen mingled with the 500 guests who included Roy Halladay, Jimmy Rollins, Vance Worley, Cole Hamels, Shane Victorino and Electric Factory owner Larry Magid, Utley's pal.

Comcast SportsNet's Michael Barkann and CBS 3's Susan Barnett emceed the festivities.

Plays & Players goes Wilde

Plays and Players (1714 Delancey) hosts a staged reading Monday night of Oscar Wilde's "An Ideal Husband," which the theater first performed in 1912.

Councilwoman Blondell Reynolds Brown and Fox 29's Karen Hepp are scheduled to perform along with veteran screen actress Sylvia Kauders, and local theater professionals such as Kash Goins, Madi DiStefano, Kevin Bergen and Amanda Schoonover, among others.

Tickets are $25 for the show. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the performance from 7 to 9.
