Dan Gross: Busy night for Fla. Marlin

FLORIDA Marlins reliever Sean West had a wild Saturday night, being involved in one fight, nearly provoking another, then getting lucky with a groupie at his hotel.

West, 23, was leaving G Lounge (111 S. 17th) close to 2 a.m. Sunday, when he was involved in a bit of pushing and shoving with a few other men. The 6-foot-8 rookie, who appears intoxicated in a photo we've posted at PhillyGossip. com, then climbed into a limousine with five women, cleat chasers who had traveled from Florida to hang out with the Marlins.

Limousine driver Big Penny says that while driving on Locust Street near 13th, West heckled a group of men, who then surrounded the car and threatened the ballplayer and that Big Penny pleaded with the angry crowd not to harm his car, a Cadillac DTS sedan.

Penny says a member of West's harem vomited in the car as they traveled up 13th Street, then again on Market Street, causing him to pull over at the Robert N.C. Nix Sr. Federal Building, at 9th and Market, where Penny says West nearly passed out.

Penny says West "was laying on the ledge with his flip-flops on" as the girls tried to make their friend feel better.

Penny says West told him that he would pay for any cleaning of the limo, and that when they arrived at the Hyatt Regency Penn's Landing, where the team was staying, West got out of the car with one of the women and said they were heading to get a towel. He also announced his intention to have sex with his companion, Penny says, and never returned to the limo.

Penny says he called West in the morning demanding payment for the cleanup, and West claimed he didn't know the women. A Marlins spokeswoman did not return our detailed request for comment yesterday.

Phillies fans peep for free

It may cost Phillies fans a lot to travel to Colorado for the playoff games against the Rockies, but admission will be free at the Diamond Cabaret and Steakhouse.

Bill Love, general manager at the upscale gentlemen's club, tells us that anybody who presents a Philly-area ID at the door will get in free. The club is only minutes from Coors Field, in Denver. Love, a die-hard Philly sports fan, worked for many years at clubs in this area.
