Adele in British Vogue; photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott

Just when we showed her how much we love her, how much we care for her, how much we need her – and in the most Grammy-rific way possible – Adele decides to abandon us all to our note-less, a-rhythmic loneliness, our dark night of the soul, our misery ...

AOL.com's Music news blog Spinner.com says, with a touch of hysterics, that Adele plans to take the next four or five years off from music!

That she wants to leave you, me and the muses so she can concentrate on her relationship with her new boyfriend, “get married. Have some kids. Plant a nice vegetable patch.”

Horrors.

Could this really be true?

Probably not. Spinner’s report is written off an interview conducted with Adele by Jonathan Van Meter  in British Vogue’s daily online edition.

Here is the full quote. It opens with Van Meter opining about Adele’s state of mind.

For someone so young, Adele seems to have a powerful urge to settle down and start a family of her own.

Indeed, in three interviews, it is the topic that comes up the most.

One day, I ask about her future.

“I am [bleeping] off for four or five years,” she says.

“If I am constantly working, my relationships fail. So at least now I can have enough time to write a happy record. And be in love and be happy. And then I don’t know what I’ll do. Get married. Have some kids. Plant a nice vegetable patch.”

Adele does speak to Vogue about her new beau, Simon Konecki –, described by Van Meter as “a big bear of a guy with a husky voice and a hipster vibe—he has the telltale full beard and a slouchy, gentle aspect. He hangs around, chatting up Rose and attending to his new girl when she gets a break from shooting.”

Konecki sounds like a good guy with a global consciousness:

“A 37-year-old former investment banker, [he] is the CEO of Drop4Drop,” writes Van Meter, “a charity based in the seaside town of Brighton, about an hour outside London, whose mission is to alleviate the global water crisis.”

Adele says she adores him.

“He’s wonderful,” she tells the Vogue writer, “and he’s proud of me, but he don’t care about what I do or what other people think. He looks after me. I don’t think I would have gotten through the recovery for my surgery if it hadn’t been for him.”

Will Adele leave the world – where her album, 21, has outsold nearly every other scrap of recorded music since the gramophone was invented – to raise rabbits with Konecki?

Who knows. We can’t see into Adele’s heart.

For now, as Rolling Stone reports, Adele plans to release “Rumour Has It” as her fourth single off 21 in March.

Photo Note: Second photo, of Adele and Simon, circulated widely in the British tabloids, including The Sun. It is usually, but not always, credited to Ken Goff Photos Ltd

she is taking a break because she is going to get surgery like jennifer hudson did and then be a weight watchers advocate claiming that her diet made her look this great.

Whatever makes HER happy! The key in life is to be content with your life, whatever you do.

It's a rumor. Billboard, a music trade publication, has the real story. Perz Hilton has the same exact story on his website. Do you believe a blog or a music trade paper that has been around for eons?

There are some wonderful large women and men who can sing like there is no tomorrow! Can you sing? (probably not.) Do you have six pack abs? (very very not.) Until you're perfect, keep it to yourself. Look in the mirror...

Adele, critically acclaimed, 17x platinum worldwide sales, always grateful, gracious, humble and humorous; if you have something bad to say about her, who do you have something good to say about?
    Anyone? Yourself?

About Tirdad Derakhshani
Tirdad Derakhshani was born in Tehran, Iran, and raised in London and rural North Jersey, where he closely studied a theoretical, radical post-Hegelian approach to cow-tipping. He moved to Philadelphia in the mid-‘80s to seek enlightenment, and instead received a B.A. in literature at Penn. While pursuing doctoral studies in modern religious thought and philosophy, he worked at the Inquirer as a news clerk, researcher, editor, and entertainment writer.

He hopes SideShow will help citizens better understand the vicissitudes of the Consumerist-Military-Industrial-Infotainment Complex, or, in other words, why Britney Spears has a tendency to shave her head, Brangelina to adopt children, and Lindsay Lohan to crave imprisonment. Read SideShow every morning.
