Dear The Ladies,

Hey. How's it going? Hope you enjoyed your Valentine's Day. Speaking of disappointment, how're the fellas treatin' ya? Eh, sorry to bring it up. At least you can take solace in the fact that you're not imagining things. It really is that difficult to find a guy in Philly. The Atlantic has published a new piece analyzing Census data that indicates that there's a big education gap between the genders. They even organized the proof into a fancy graph.

Which brings us to today's relatively thin pool of college-educated men. The next chart shows the percent by which college-educated women outnumber men in the 15 largest American metro areas. Even in and around Seattle, the most balanced city, there are more than eight graduated women for every seven graduated men.

See? Science.

We're sorry you couldn't find a hot date to feed you chocolate-covered strawberries and participate in an enlightening discussion of bipartisan politics and the societal allegory that makes The Hunger Games more than just summer blockbuster about teen love and glorified violence.

Just know that no matter how many Valentine's Days you spend searching for Mr. Right, Your LL Bean Boyfriend lives on the Internet, so he can always be Mr. Right Now.

All Our Love,

Philly.com

xxoo

This is great news. Let's hope that the colleges keep cranking out lots of smart women. As for guys---well, women want bad boys anyhow--stupid, violent, lazy, on parole, unemployable--so they pretty much get what they have been wishing for anyhow.

Okay, which one do you want liberals: this barely readable article or the "war on women"... can't have both.

Philly's smart women really need a man who's good at one thing, and you know what it is.

Females score higher than males in standardized testing - MATH and Reading. They go to college more...get more college and graduate degrees. Yeah...the 'war on women'. But let's whine that there aren't enough female engineers!!! It's not fair...

Just a few months ago, Philly was among the top 9 cities for singles (men and women) according to some magazine/web site!!

There is always some kind of a top or bottom list anywhere anytime! None of them means anything unless you know the details of how and what they collected as information and how they actually calculated the actual scores!

This time they are using census data but no consideration to ethnicity/religion/sexual orientation/what people look for in a date etc!

maybe these gals are single because no normal guy wants to listen to the feminist bull these broads learned in women's studies 101. newsflash, ladies: guys like women who are down-to-earth. they don't want to be brow-beaten with the feminazi, man-hating pabulum you learned at Bryn Mawr. and some make-up helps

Who the heck is the girl in the photo? Nice looking woman. If her brains and demeanor match her beauty, she's a winner.

And what percentage of these college educated women are receiving degrees in science, engineering, medicine, or business (excluding marketing)? Yes, women are more likely to get college degrees because they are much less likely to want/get jobs in a trade like mechanic, HVAC, or construction, which require more physical labor.

If these women were actually smart, they wouldn't just eliminate a whole subsection of potentially honest, decent hard working guys because they don't have college degrees. That would be like someone with a doctorate limiting themselves to only others with doctorates.

Women love talking to the smart college grad, but still liked to be banged by the mechanic down the street.

For you guys (degree or not) having difficulty getting women, remember these rules.

    1. Don't listen to ANYTHING women say about what they want.
    2. Date more than one women.
    3. Only be available for late night sex.

I am seeing a lot of college educated women now marrying guys in the trades. Good for them. For years they wanted a McMansion, millions of bucks, and expensive cars. Now some are realizing a man with money does not mean love, but love can come from anyone with a heart. It has taken a while for educated Philly women to understand it though.

If women want dates, what's stopping them from calling guys up, and springing for some flowers and a nice restaurant too. Unless, of course, they get drafted.

Um, maybe the stats are messed up because they included DELAWARE and CAMDEN? Between the Badlands, Lower & Slower DE, and the Camden Crunkers you could fill entire prisons with the # of male deadbeats around here. As soon as they hear "baby mama", them college girls go runnin'!

ain't nothing allegorical about Hunger Games, smart guy. unless you're saying Katniss is emblematic of today's working class, but that's pretty thin symbolism. broke people in the future are symbolic of broke people today. if you want allegory try X men. anyhoo

Not to beat this "preference for bad boys" theme to death, but how many women write to strange guys in prison? Nationally, a lot. And how many guys write to strange women in prison? Well, I've never heard of any. Chicks want the thrill of doing all the things their families have told them not to do. For instance, the head cheerleader of my high school who, after college, became an Eagles' cheerleader, ended up riding with a motorcycle gang. Incredible! Women may want rich guys, but they do not flock to the well-educated who don't make big bucks. Guys, to get the girl of your dreams you don't need college---just a long rap sheet.

could you imagine the roar and the outrage if this headline was reversed? Imagine: "men can't find a woman who makes enough money and will pay for things" or something along those lines. awful. Its not OK to denigrate men just because we're perceived to be superior and therefore we can be made fun of. if you want equality, you need equality across all levels. no hypocrisy.

Like I always tell the young women in this area . If you want to find a the right man for you.Be open to dating men who get their hands dirty, stays employed has common sense, and plan to expand his horizons. In other words he can't be homeless, helpless or useless. If you have travel outside of this area to find him so be it.

I found the exact opposite up here in the Lehigh Valley. There were so few college educated women on the online sites. My guy friends say the same thing about the bar scene here too. And, the majority of the educated women up here were teachers or nurses. I finally met my fiancee (who lives 2 hours away).

Just because a woman graduates college does not make her smart. And conversely, the lack of attendance doesn't make a man stupid. College has been dumb-ed down so badly, that you don't even need to understand math to graduate. Besides many of the degrees are soft degrees that have no real value.
