Audra McDonald comes to Longwood Gardens this summer

The summer lineup at Longwood Gardens includes an appearance by vocalist Audra McDonald June 17. There’s also a taping of NPR’s From the Top hosted by pianist Christopher O’Riley on Sept. 9, plus other classical and jazz events.

The season opens June 1 with a wine-and-jazz event featuring vocalist Jazzmeia Horn, trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis, pianist Cyrus Chestnut, and trumpeter Terell Stafford. The next day, Longwood hosts a visit from an ensemble that includes jazz prodigy pianist Joey Alexander.

Other artists this summer include Rhiannon Giddens, the Delaware Symphony Orchestra with violinist Jennifer Koh, and Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
