Conduct the Philadelphia Orchestra at a pop-up concert on Tuesday

If you’ve ever wanted to conduct the Philadelphia Orchestra, your chance will come on Tuesday night — with a little bit of help, of course.

If you've ever wanted to conduct the Philadelphia Orchestra, your chance will come on Tuesday night — with a little bit of help, of course.

The Philadelphia Orchestra on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. will host a pop-up concert at the Kimmel Center's Verizon Hall. The event will include an interactive "ConductUs" portion, in which participants can help conduct the Orchestra's string sections with a hand from Assistant Conductor Kensho Watanabe at 5 p.m. at Commonwealth Plaza in the Kimmel Center (it's the public space).

Plus, at the end of the night, one guest will help lead the Orchestra to close the evening's concert onstage.

Prior to that, however, Conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin will lead the Orchestra through a set that includes classical favorites from composers like Hector Berlioz, Beethoven, and George Gershwin.

Tickets for the event are available starting at noon on Monday via the Philadelphia Orchestra website. The event is free to attend, but a reserved ticket is required. Although, get there early; a ticket does not guarantee entry.
