Echoes of Matisse. Network for New Music's February concert at the Barnes Foundation featured several new commissions inspired by works in the museum's collection, and Network has been putting videos of these new works up on YouTube. The latest is Jeremy Gill's Sons Découpés for harp, cello, and piccolo, which the composer describes as an "echo" of gouaches découpées, Henri Matisse's cut-out collage technique used in The Dance, the large mural at the Barnes. We also hear some echoes of Debussy and Ravel in Gill's work, which uses some beautifully subtle instrumental techniques. www.networkfornewmusic.org.

The Future Is Now. Instant gratification meets musical notation at Performer's Edition, an online service that allows instant access to orchestral parts, opera scores, chamber music, four-hand piano music - just about anything in any genre. Choose the music you want, and you can download it or order a printed copy (with various binding options). Some deals in this week's clearance section: Brahms' Variations on a Theme by Haydn for $4.99, and Mozart's noble, yearning concert aria Per pietà, non ricercate for an irresistible 69 cents. It's a long way from poking around in the far reaches of library stacks (though that has its own sense of discovery, too). www.performersedition.com. - P.D.
