Monday

First Fringe The Fringe Festival is nigh. Get a preview with Scratch Night, in which performers - including Gunnar Montana, Brian Sanders' JUNK, Tangle Movement Arts, the Renegade Company, and Hannah van Sciver - present 10 minutes of their works in progress as a teaser for the full productions. Man out of time Though he's best known for his 1980s synth-pop hits, Howard Jones is a deft and smart songwriter and performer not easily kept in a defined era (check out his new song "Joy," currently topping our playlist). Life on a raft Mark Twain's quintessential American story about a ruffian and a runaway slave traveling down the Mississippi, Huckleberry Finn, is adapted for the stage by James Rana and performed by the East Lynne Theater Company at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church of Cape May, 500 Hughes St., Cape May, and continues on a Wednesday-through-Saturday schedule to Sept. 5.
