Pop quiz! Settle down!

1. The name of the Seattle-based band Recess Monkey is an example of what kind of groan-inducing joke?

2. The band's moniker refers to a simian that is native to what region of the world?

3. How much fun are they?

(Answers at this item's end.)

A power trio of elementary-school teachers (one is lead singer and guitarist Drew Holloway, who grew up in Wayne and graduated from Upper Merion), Recess Monkey purveys a pure pop that appeals to all ages in an interactive and funny show. The musicians play Saturday for the Bryn Mawr Twilight Concert series.

OK, pencils down. Pass your papers forward (not this one, though - there's still great stuff to read). The answers are: 1. A pun. 2. The rhesus monkey of Southeast Asia. 3. More fun than a barrel full of . . . well, you know.

Adventure time

A walk in the park is nice, but imagine bumping into Prince Charming - or Pinocchio. No, this is not a singles speed-dating event (though we admit it sounds like one). The Storybook Musical Theatre sponsors a Family Fun Walk in Jenkintown's Alverthorpe Park, with chances to see those guys, along with other characters such as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz and Belle, the beauty, from Beauty and the Beast. Kids get a passport that the fairy-tale types will stamp. Once all the stamps are in, it can be redeemed for a free ticket to see the troupe's production of Pinocchio playing July 7 to 18 at the Gratz College Theater in Melrose Park.

Make and take

Here in the world of tomorrow, we may not have flying cars (yet), but we have 3D printing, which is cooler. Try your hand at it with the Franklin Institute's 3D printing workshop (for ages 11 and older).
