What an antithesis. Haven't seen any of them at 5th & Allegheny. Marie Antoinette > rolling over. 2hip4u- 2hip4u doesn't quite understand Marie Antoinette. The Ball attendees all made a large charitable contribution to support arts in Philadelphia. Guess 2hip would prefer our taxes to support. Actually 2hip's moniker is much more in tune with M Antoinette's arrogance.

Why do rich people dress so poorly in this city?It amazes me the time, money and effort women in this area spend in a time warp of bad taste.Don't they have mirrors in the castle? Some of the men need to update their look as well.Thank GOD Hugh Jackman saved the day.He looks good in everything! vrb1955- Men are required to wear white tie and tails for this event. The women spend excessive amounts of money on dresses to justify their corporate welfare tax deductions.

Why should the rich care about how they look? Preoccupation with status is a trait of the middle and upper-middle class, not of the rich. asdfasdfasdf
When worlds collide: old and new money. arm320
Everything old is new again. My favorite is Governor Corbett...if you juxtapose his photo with a photo of Mayor Rizzo from the early 70s, with the billy stick protruding out of his cummerbund, you have wonder if we are living in a time warp. Corbett, however, would never get the Philly love Rizzo had.
It was rather touching that the Philly Orchestra managed to schlepp a few blocks down the Ave to play in their "real" home. So much for progress. LostHighWay99
A stunning collection of folks dressed to impress. I don't begrudge them their fun, and I appreciate the contribution to the arts.It would impress me even more, however, if the gowns were then given to charity. dianesfp
wow... some very expensive looking very ugly dresses... pennyrobinson
Horrible fashion, yet again. Philly's "high society" needs to step it up - they look horrible ash68
