TLC to reunite with Kate Gosselin for hour-long 'catch-up' special

TLC to reunite with Kate Gosselin for hour-long ‘catch-up’ special

It’s been more than two years since we saw local celebri-mom Kate Gosselin grace TLC's airwaves with her icy visage, and the ensuing period of tranquility has been, to say the least, refreshing. Now, though, in what is a sure sign that the apocalypse is extremely nigh, Gosselin is returning to television. Lord help us.

TLC announced today that they’ll team up again with Gosselin for a one-hour special that’s set to serve as a “catch up” session with the former Jon & Kate Plus 8 star. As yet untitled, the project focuses on Gosselin and her children and how the family’s life has changed since the show that started all this in the first place ended. Or, as the network description says:

"Throughout the special, Kate and the kids get us up to speed on what’s changed in the family - how the kids have grown, what their interests are now, and what the latest is on Kate’s life and career."

So, essentially, we can code-name this one “Keeping Up with the Gosselins.” It’s a one-off, thankfully, but Gosselin herself has long expressed interest in a return to television—see her awkward January appearance on Today with daughters Mady and Cady. In that particular instance, the Gosselin children said having camera crews milling around “helped” the family.

This special will likely “help” as much. We’ll find out for sure when it premieres in June.
