The sound was like 10 squadrons of seagulls about to dive-bomb a July 4 picnic. Ranging in age from 7 to 37, a few thousand females and a handful of males thronged the King of Prussia Mall where Selena Gomez, pop singer and star of the movie "Monte Carlo" made an appearance.

"She's awesome!" said Olivia Monahon, 9, who attends Woodstown Middle School in New Jersey.

"She inspires me to be a better person!" chimed in Mary Mcelhone, 16, of Upper Darby.

Sarah Freymoyer, a mom from Chester County, thus explained the appeal of the petite teen powerhouse: "Her songs are about empowerment and positive messages."

The Olivia Monsoon mentioned above is actually Olivia Monahon, 9, who goes to Woodstown Elementary School in Woodstown, NJ. It was so loud that she wasn't sure that you heard her correctly.

Kids used to go to camp and run around in the sun. Now they wait in parking lots in the predawn hours for Beiber's girlfriend.

I saw her host some canadian video awards the other night. and everyone dutifully told her how good she looked. which she did, but...she's got a pretty severe eating disorder, that she's completely in denial about. 19 year old girls aren't always in the hospital with vague, mysterious disorders that clear up in a few days. "I'm fine now everybody!" uh, no, you're not. and michael jackson and lisa marie presley were a more believable romantic pairing than this one and beibs.

@K. Monahon: Ah. modern technology: I had the name correct (including the second O), but filed that post on my i-Phone which has a spelling correction function that changed Monahon to Monsoon! Apologize to Olivia for me and I will fix now.
