LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) - Universal and QED have attached Robert De Niro and Zac Efron to star in the raunchy comedy "Dirty Grandpa."

Dan Mazer ("Da Ali G Show") will write and direct the film, which QED is financing.

Story follows an uptight guy (Efron) who right before his wedding is tricked into driving his vulgar former Army general to Florida for spring break.

Barry Josephson will produce.

"Dirty Grandpa" marks the first Universal-Zac Efron comedy since their box office smash, "Neighbor." The R-rated comedy, co-starring Seth Rogen, was one of the breakout hits of 2014, earning a stunning $268 million worldwide.

De Niro is currently filming "The Intern" opposite Anne Hathaway after recently starring in another 'grandpa' comedy, "The Grudge Match."

Both actors are repped by CAA.
