TMZ reports that 25-year-old Meek Mill, who was seen hanging with Drake before the brawl broke out at club W.I.P. in New York City early Thursday morning, is responsible for Brown's injury.

Although the exact grounds and causes of the altercation remain unknown, pop star Rihanna is believed to be the root reason for tension between Drake and Brown. Both artists have previously dated the leading lady.

In a statement released Thursday afternoon, a representative for Drake says that the artist claims he was on his way out of the club when the fight broke out. "He did not engage in any activity which resulted in injury to person or damage to property," wrote his rep.

After the incident, Chris Brown took to his twitter and posted a photo of his lacerated chin along with a series of comments calling Drake's entourage "weak" for throwing bottles. His taunting tweets have since been removed.

Meanwhile, Meek Mill tweeted Thursday morning, "It wasn't me.... (shaggy voice) lol.” Drake, who performed in Camden over the weekend, helped Meek Mill shoot a video for the song "Amen" on the steps of the Art Museum Sunday. Mill is currently signed to Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group (MMG). He's identified as one of the most-promising, up-and-coming talents in the business.

New York police are continuing their investigation of the fight, which lead to five injuries from people tossing bottles.
