It's a tough time to be a member of the Cyrus family.

Three years after Billy Ray Cyrus filed for divorce from his wife only to withdraw his petition five months later, his other half, Tish Cyrus, decided to end nearly two decades of marriage on Thursday citing "irreconcilable differences."

In a statement released to People magazine, Billy Ray told the publication, "This is a personal matter and we are doing what is in the best interest of our family. We ask that you respect our privacy at this time."

After he had initially filed for divorce in 2010, Billy Ray made an appearance on The View announcing that he and his wife had reconciled. "I want to put my family back together," he told the ladies on the show. Tish, meanwhile, took to her Facebook page to share the following: "Big thanks to all of our family, friends, and fans who have kept us in their thoughts and prayers," she wrote. "Our family weathered a huge storm and I feel we are stronger than we have ever been."

The pair have five children, including 20-year-old singer Miley Cyrus, who in the public light is grappling with her own ups and downs with fiance Liam Hemsworth.

Miley reached out to her father via Twitter Thursday shortly after the divorce news broke making it clear she was having a tough time getting in touch with him: "@billyraycyrus since your text and email obviously aren't working would you like to talk like this?" she said.
