Ja Rule gets jail in tax rap

It never rains but it pours.

Rapper and actor Ja Rule, already sentenced to a prison term in New York, received more bad news this morning in Newark: a 28-month sentence for failing to pay income tax returns in New Jersey.

The New York conviction stems from an earlier weapons possession charge for which the rapper received a three year prison term. (see video of Ja Rule and Jennifer Lopez performing “I’m Real”, below)

Ja Rule, 35, pled guilty in both cases. The tax charge dates to his time as a New Jersey resident in tony Saddle River.

Ja Rule, whose birth name is Jeffrey Atkins, will be able to serve the majority of his two terms concurrently.
