Five things to do today – paddle Penn’s Landing, shore gardening, tennis match

Whether you’re staying down the shore or are back in the city, today’s events are A-plus.

For a competition: Dancers of all ages from all over the country will be competing in the Sophisticated Productions National Dance Competition in Wildwood, NJ. The second day of the contest runs from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. in the Wildwood Convention Center through Friday. See the glitz and glam for no cost.

For gardeners: Join master and avid gardeners at for a lesson in gardening at the shore at the Nature Center of Cape May in Cape May, NJ at 10:30 a.m. for an hour class.

For a river-bound adventure: Paddle your way around Penn’s Landing Marina any time from noon until 8 p.m. Grab a paddleboat at the Marina at Penn’s Landing, just south of the Hyatt Hotel, for an alternative view of the riverfront.

For world-class athleticism: The Philadelphia Freedoms take on visiting Austin Aces tonight in a Mylan World Team Tennis match at Villanova University Pavilion in Villanova, PA. Playing for the Aces is former number one world tennis player Andy Roddick. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the game starts at 7 p.m.

For an indie show: Perhaps one of the coolest things to come out of Wisconsin, the six-piece band Phox, whose debut LP was just released last month, plays at 8:30 p.m. at Boot and Saddle on South Broad.
