Dan Deacon's extraordinary PIFA performance

Dan Deacon played the Perelman Theater at the Kimmel Center last night as part of the on-going Philadelphia International of the Arts. Deacon's performance was very different from a typical concert. He had the crowd participate by instructing them to perform certain tasks including the formation of a human tunnel that looped out into the lobby and back in the side door.

Deacon also had the crowd use his app on their smartphones. The app synced with the music which caused the phones to light up and change colors depending on the beat of song. The phones looked like fireflies from the balcony above when they lit up. Needless to say, it was a very interesting and fun night at the Kimmel Center.
