You can’t mention Rocky without mentioning Philadelphia. The two got together like whiz and steak on an Amoroso’s roll. So it seems totally appropriate that today, Monday, Mar. 10, the film’s Oscar-winning director will be honored by the City of Philadelphia.

In celebration of the release of The Rocky Heavyweight Collection, a special 4k Blu-ray disc set, the Mayor’s Office will hold a special Citation Ceremony for  director John G. Avildsen for the significant contributions his film’s franchise has made to the local community. A limited edition, newly redesigned Rocky poster will also be presented and unveiled.

You can witness the award ceremony today at 5 p.m. on the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum, located at 2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
