Anderson Cooper is gay
Um, yeah, so?
Anderson Cooper is gay
Molly Eichel
Most people will read the headline of this blog post and immediately think, "Uh, duh." But Anderson Cooper has officially come out, via longtime friend Andrew Sullivan's blog.
"The fact is, I'm gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn’t be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud," Cooper wrote in an email. He goes on to say that while he is happy with himself, he does not plan on becoming an activist.
Sullivan was prompted to ask Cooper after reading Mark Harris' excellent piece in last week's Entertainment Weekly about a new breed of "out" celebrity.
In May 2007, Out magazine ran a piece by Village Voice gossip columnist Michael Musto, about openly gay celebrities who refused to come out to the public. Cooper was on the cover alongside Jodie Foster, who talked about her longtime girlfriend publicly for the first time shortly after the story ran.
- He left out another important fact - the one about him being a TOOL. EGGHEAD.
- With a face like his, I assume he sucks on lemons more than anything else. EGGHEAD.
- Another desperate attempt to focus attention to his failing morning talk-show by shouting out something everyone knew already. He is irrelevant. He needs to go help Murjani design some new jeans for Gloria and give us a break. EGGHEAD.
- Yawwnnn..... The Monk
Not a surprise but still Yukk Ashburn072
Gay, straight, black, white, yellow, Christian, Jewish, Hispanic -- come on it is 2012 lets stop all this categorizing of people. I blame the media for this. Politicians are also big on this. It should stop. Marja
So, you had to read this to know that? You people are really stupid. Capt. Buzz
Is that he claim to fame being a fudge packer. Why should people care about his weird life. oldbiker
Any celeb coming out now is as shocking as celebs coming out as being against the Iraq War in 2008. AvoidSundanceVacations
The fact is I am heterosexual. There I said it. I bat right and can't switch hit. Please comment if you care. I certainly don't care what you think. jerryk2b
Are we supposed to care? Is this really any of the public's business? It's probably more interesting to have Anerson talk about his Mother, Gloria Vanderbilt. She seen and lived through it all. Anne Arkey
Hutch: Just because you don't share neddy's views doesn't make him a homophobe. He's as entitled to his opinion as you are. Insults and name calling are the last refuge for those who are out of cogent arguments. freesia
WOW! so he is annoying, untalented and gay. guess that's why no one cares. FBO4ever
In fact gays enjoy the same protections as everyone else as mandated by the Constitution. freesia
While this is not a shocker, Anderson Cooper privacy should be respected. I do not think he ever hid it, he just never thought it was an issue, nor has he ever made it an issue. BigE
Has anyone seen CNN's ratings lately? For that matter, has anyone seen CNN lately? It's pretty sad when you have to exploit someone's sexual preference for a few rating-points. Especially when nobody really cares. SammyMaudlin
and I like to have sex 3 times a day..I really do not care. I do not ask for special laws for my sexual tendencies and either should the gay community. Now work and pay your taxes like the rest of us. blombard
so he was the mole all along... Zero

It's 2012. No one cares. Imbaldy
He's still cute in my book. Jen D
Why is it that rail-thin men and ugly chicks are always the gay ones? everydayguy

What next, the Earth is round? No wonder he gets on so well with Kathy Griffin, she loves her gays.
Maybe he and fellow anchor Don Lemon can get together for a little 'Ebony and Ivory' action. Claire Voyant
This news blows me away, it took awhile to penetrate. all-or-nothin
In an equally enlightening story....the Earth is not flat. kelprod2
Wait a few hours, CNN may run a correction. tr88
I'd be surprised if he said he wasn't. Didn't his brother jump of their posh NY apartment building? What a family.
Doonesbury satirizes AC in his Roland Hedley character I think.
Gays matter because they want spousal benefits. Next comes polygamy and marrying relatives. No limits on ANY consensual behavior. audiesgirl- "Doonesbury satirizes AC in his Roland Hedley character I think." ??? You might want to research that before you continue to assert it. But thanks for the laugh. Exactly how long do you think the Roland Hedley character has been around?
Jen D
No really??? Who didn't know this? Waiting for Travolta and Cruise to join him and I can wait vrb1955- And this is news?!! You would have to be deaf, dumb, and blind not to know he was gay. And who cares? He's a good journalist - that's all that matters. Vinnie
I am sick and tired of this gay stuff. Is there more to life than who's gay or not? J5player
Will John Bolaris come out this week too? Tyrone Biggums
Gay or not, he's a dork. Who cares. Tyrone Biggums
I didn't watch CNN that much. when i did, I couldn't tell, and I couldn't care less really. life goes on justakid
I don't get the "proud/pride" part. I'm neither proud nor unproud that I'm hetero. I just am. What's to be "proud" about your sexual inclinations? pj katauskas- pj, go read the e-mail in its entirety and you'll understand why he needed to declare that he is 'proud'. The clip re printed above does not give the full context. Copper's e-mail is incredibly honest, heartfelt, eloquent and honorable. Go read it here:

Is that one of the reasons he goes after Christians? He does stories on Jeffs, the nut bag for Az., talks about Christians who beat their kids, etc. Never once a story about how there are actually Christians who travel around the country at their own expense raising money to help starving kids in Africa. How they help rebuild homes in NOLA at their own expense or take care of orphans from Haiti and much, much more than the big talking Libs like this dude would ever consider doing. Who cares what the guy does in his private life. Go ahead, get married and hopefully he won't get divorced and have the partner take 1/2 his money. He needs to come 360 and really report the truth. Otherwise he is just another Lib with his own interests thinking most people really care what he does after the show!!! sarah89- So, you've never seen his shoe 360, obviously, or you wouldn't have thumbed out such an ignorant post; but then again, that's your one-note existence on this site.

so who really cares....Hello, this is 2012....nobody cares and it is not a big deal....a rag like this has no interest in pursuing real news so this is the best they can do....who cares..... nuggett
More important, he is a Liberal, that`s what really comes across in his work. Christo1CG
He's also a stereotype.
CNN's coverage of the Egyptian uprising was captivating and deep at the start. They used local correspondents and other local feeds.
Then suddenly Anderson Cooper arrived - after much fanfare - looking like he'd just stepped out of the shower after a manicure and shave. He looked that way during every on-air gossipy report and basically rehashed his attention-grabbing, sensationalized spots during Katrina and the Gulf Oil Spill - just the names and places were different. Tears were conspicuously lacking.
At one point it was rumored that Cooper had been "attacked" by the pro-government forces in Egypt. We never saw it - or at least when we did hear from him after the attack not a hair was out of place and the stylish button-down shirts, the ties and the bomber jacket all looked as though they were off the rack if not "straight" from the dry cleaner.
He Visto Todo- I bet he won't go back to Egypt or the Middle East now that is he out.
J5player - Not only that but his prospects for employment at Al Jazeera - great as that news organization is - have probably dimmed considerably.
- My question is why the media will repeatedly question / bring pressure to reveal the sexual preference of various male/female celebrities yet honor the choice of other people, in this case a member of the "main stream media", to maintain their "open" secret. wfs0868
Meh. He's still a tool. Another_1- No, he's not. Now that he is officially part of a protected group, you may not call him a "tool" or you're a homophobe.
The fact is I'm not gay. Who cares, stop throwing your sexual preferences in our face, we don't care, WE DON'T CARE your gay, live with it. neddyflanders- You know, ned. Life would be fine you actually didn't care. Sadly, though, you care too much about things that are none of your business. You are so homophobic that anyone expressing themselves as gay is interpreted by you as "throwing their sexual preferences in your face." You are a sad, sad person, ned. A sad person indeed. Hutch
Comment removed.- Yeah, I can't believe we still tax people for being gay, and they can't be named in anyone's will. Wait-- no, that's totally not true.
Like you had to tell me! Happyface
