Lucinda Scala Quinn's 10 tips for feeding men and boys

1. Decide it's important to you. We need to commit and collaborate with each other to achieve success.

2. Educate yourself. It's never too late to begin cooking. Daily practice will lead you there, and each day will get easier.

3. Practice simple recipes. Focus on one or two standbys before branching out. Cooking is a craft that requires repetition.

4. Think strategy. Plan your meals, shop weekly and don't ask if they're hungry - just serve one dinner for the whole family.

5. Economize resources. Don't worry about making "20-minute meals." Strategize organizing and prepping, and tag team with other family members to get it done.

6. Be a mealtime evangelist. Eat breakfast yourself, and sit down to dinner. Create a legacy of serving old-fashioned, simple meals, the kind moms have always made.

7. Keep 'em healthy. Home-cooked dinners guarantee better ingredients that turn healthy boys into healthy men.

8. Trade food for talk. Your boys might not want to talk, but they want to eat. Mealtime opens the door for conversation.

9. Train them to fend for themselves. Teach your boys to become self-sufficient men when it comes to the kitchen.

10. Cook (most days) with pleasure. Even if you don't love to cook, you can take pleasure in doing something good for the people you love.
