Tattle: It's a French hospital for the Brangelina birth patrol

ANGELINA JOLIE has checked into a hospital in the south of France, where she's expected to stay till her babies are born, a hospital spokeswoman said yesterday.

Jolie's admittance to the Lenval Hospital maternity wing in Nice was planned, said Nadine Bauer, the hospital press attache. "There's no urgency . . . She's very well. Everything is fine."

Jolie, 33, has said the babies are due in August. They'll join dad Brad Pitt and the couple's four other children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara and Shiloh.

The family recently moved into the 35-bedroom Miraval Estate villa in Provence. There's talk that they signed a three-year lease, but we wouldn't bet on that. Team Brangelina gets around.

Jolie gave birth to Shiloh two years ago in Namibia. The family supposedly put down roots in New Orleans just last year, spending $3.5 million on a new house. They reportedly also have homes in Los Angeles and Malibu, though they don't seem to be at either place very often.

How 'bout injecting a little stability in your children's lives, Brad and Angie?

Stork report II

Are longtime Hollywood couple Charlize Theron and Stuart Townsend having a baby?

Web tongues were wagging yesterday over the flowing, pale blue gown she wore to Monday's Hollywood premiere of "Hancock," her new movie with Will Smith.

It surely was possible to hide a pregnancy under there. And her sensible flat sandals seemed the perfect red carpet solution for swollen feet.

But we also wondered if the dress - with plunging, V-shaped bodice and pleated draping - sent a more subtle confirmation of Theron's condition. It sure reminded us of the apple green gown a very pregnant Jolie wore at the Cannes Film Festival in May.

Bands on the run

Is there a band out there that doesn't have a MySpace page?

Probably darn few, which has led Rock the Vote - the pop-culture-driven voter-registration effort - to launch the DemROCKracy Band Competition. The band that registers the most voters through its MySpace page will win Gibson guitars and other prizes, plus a chance to perform "on a major concert stage." The competition began yesterday and runs through Aug. 14, after which the three top vote getters will have 24 hours to generate the most registrations.

Big doings in Scranton

Cast member Mindy Kaling will be on hand July 17 as Scranton, aka home of "The Office" 's fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company, celebrates the release of "The Office" DVD board game and trivia game.

Kaling plays Kelly Kapoor on the NBC comedy show. "I have been to Scranton before and am really excited to return for this fun event!" she said in a press release.

There will be a 2K run, a trivia contest and a beet-eating contest, all staged around the town's Mall at Steamtown.

Whoo-hah!

More about the Boy

Boy George's legal troubles have led to the cancellation of his summer tour, including an Aug. 1 stop at Glenside's Keswick Theatre.

George O'Dowd (that's the name his mamma gave him) was denied a visa because he's awaiting trial on charges of falsely imprisoning a male model at his London flat.

"I was really hoping that . . . some kind soul at the U.S. visa office would realize that if the police in the UK placed no restrictions on my movements, that should have been good enough for them," Boy said.

No jokers here

The new Batman movie, "The Dark Knight," isn't out until July 18, but there's already talk coming out of early critics' screenings of a posthumous Oscar for Heath Ledger's dark turn as the Joker. It would be the first since Peter Finch won for "Network" in 1976.

Speaking with Ben Lyons on E!'s "Daily 10" this week, Ledger's fellow cast members Christian Bale and Gary Oldman recalled working with the actor, who died of an accidental drug overdose Jan. 22.

Bale: "When I'm watching him I don't see Heath. He makes himself invisible . . . I think that Heath has really created an iconic villain."

Oldman: "He's accessible [while shooting the intense role]. I meant that's the thing where people say, you know, 'The role went to his head. It was too intense. He thought he was the Joker, he couldn't sleep, he was . . .' I saw none of that. I mean, we stand that night and laugh and joke on the sidewalk and I think he talked about his daughter, Matilda. I saw him at the hotel out of makeup and he looked OK to me." *

We were a Ragu family. That is, we were until my mother saw a commercial in which a man held up a jar of Prego and said, "The first ingredient in Prego is tomatoes," then held up a jar of Ragu and said, "The first ingredient in Ragu is water." My mother switched her loyalty the next day.
